2012 Missions Opportunities

Missions is at the center of God’s heart. Therefore, we encourage members to be involved in “hands on” mission projects, both locally and abroad. (Acts 1:8).

Liberty House

Every Tuesday night at 6:00, First Hattiesburg provides a Bible study for the men involved in the Liberty House ministry, a ministry of Christian Services. Men, you are invited to join the rotation of teachers who lead this weekly Bible study. The number of times you teach depends upon how many men are in the teaching rotation. (Right now there are six.)  Contact Charles Welch at First Hattiesburg (601.544.0100) for more info.

To Hattiesburg With Love

THWL is our yearly mission trip to…Hattiesburg!  Dozens of projects are carried out by Growth Groups, but you don’t have to be in a Growth Group to help out. Sign up for projects begins in late March, and projects are carried out anytime after Easter through the end of April. Contact Charles Welch at First Hattiesburg (601.544.0100) for more info.

A second trip to Haiti is also in the works for Thanksgiving week. This will be the third consecutive year a team has traveled to Haiti during this time period. Watch for more info on this one.

Vacation Bible School (Preschool) & Summer Experience (Children)

Some come join the fun!  No experience is necessary. VBS and Summer Experience take place June 11-15, 9:00am-NOON. Contact Dotty Krebs, Minister to Preschool, to work with preschool, or Amber Williamson, Director of Children’s Ministries, to work with children.

Operation Christmas Child

We’re collecting gifts for children all over the world again this year. Through Samaritan’s Purse we have the opportunity to not only bless children, but to share the story of Jesus with them. OCC begins the end of October and runs through mid-November.

You can also be involved in OCC by traveling with our team to Atlanta to work with Samaritan’s Purse in the packing and shipping of Christmas shoeboxes all over the world. You’ll have the opportunity to work with hundreds of volunteers in processing 1,000,000 boxes!  This four-day trip takes place at the end of November/beginning of December. Contact Charles Welch at First Hattiesburg (601.544.0100) for more info.
